The Dambusters

Being an Explorer is all about discovering the world on your own terms and making the most of what you have, wherever and whoever you are.

Arlesey Dambusters (Explorer Scout Unit) is partnered with the 1st Arlesey Scout Group and is open to 14 to 18 year olds, both those moving on from Scouts and anyone else wishing to join Explorers from outside of Scouting.

We meet on Thursday evenings 7:00pm to 9:00pm.

Our weekly evenings involve a wide range of activities from pioneering, campfire cooking, games, pioneering, getting out and about, map reading, hiking, par 3 golf and much much more.

Our aim is to encourage our explorers to get the most from their time with us and be involved in programme planning and organising the activities they want to do. We work to provide a safe environment to learn skills for life and have fun.

As a unit we try to run several camps a year ranging from activity and survival camps to just visiting an area and chilling and trying something new. Camps are the most exciting part of the Explorers programme allow us to practice the skills we have learned without the two hour time constraints. And of course relax at the end of the day sitting round a campfire listening to the musicians amongst us. We emphasise camping and scouting skills as well as having fun and trying new activities such as kayaking, sailing, scrambling, climbing and caving. In a normal year we aim to have a Survival Camp, Winter Camp and to top it all off a Week long Summer Camp.

Arlesey Dambusters also help to raise funds for the Scout Group and our unit while getting involved in local community events like the summer fete, bonfire night, remembrance parade and more.
